Hi-
My name is Kristin. I am a mom of a (almost) 6 year old with cerebral palsy.  My daughter Kaci had her stem cell treatment on the 3rd of July in Mexico with Dr. Ramirez. So far, so good!

Welcome,

Could you please tell us a little about the stem cell treatment in Mexico?  How was treatment done?  How long did you have to stay?  There are a lot of people who are interested in more information about stem cell treatment in Mexico, and I know your input would be very welcomed.

Thanks, and good luck to Kaci.  Keep us posted.

Hi-
We actually  in San Diego.  A driver picked us up at our hotel from the Steenblock Research Institute and drove us to Dr. Ramirez's clinic in Tijuana. Kaci had 6 million stem cells through an IV injection in her arm (took about 45 min).  Our driver  with us the whole time.  Then we returned back to San Diego (took about 2 hours to get across the boarder).  All and all it was pretty uneventful.  We flew back home to Washington State the next morning.

One of the patients from Baton Rouge, who went to China recently, had previously gone to the Dominican Republic and her treatment there sounds just like the one Kaci had.

In China, we were there for a month.  We had a combination of spinal injections and IVs.  And, we also had acupuncture and rehab twice a day.  It was a much more involved treatment.  It was in a hospital.  Of course, it's not exactly like being cooped up in a hospital room for a month.  Unless you're in acupuncture, rehab, or having stem cell injections, you are free to do as you please.  It's a combination vacation/therapy.

I hope Kaci sees real improvements.  Keep me posted.

Although the Stem cell treatment in China sounds like an AMAZING program, I can't help but wonder if the cost and location of the clinic (along with the time spent there to complete the treatment), would be my 1st choice being one who lives in the United States. It definatly is the MOST publicized place to go. I did actually look into going to China with my daughter. Then, I looked into Costa Rica as well.  But when it all came down to making a decision, I opted toward Mexico, not only for the convienience of it's location for us, but for the experience that Dr. Ramirez had with treating kids with cerebral palsy: http://www.journal-mhr.com/PDF_Files/vol_3_2/3_2_PDFs/3_2_2.pdf.

Also, prior to commiting to treatment, I contacted a former patient of his who suffers from MS to ask his opinion as to whether or not HE thought his experience was worth doing something this experrimental to my child. He said if it were his child, he would do it.

I guess, although China DOES have it's advantages (with PT rehab and accupuncture- during it's program), I actually prefer the "NO FRILLS" approach to doing SCT's- but my daughter also gets 10 hours of physical therapy a week.

True, time will tell as to the outcome for her for this approach.

NO NO!!! The treatment used in the Dominican Republic is done with aborted fetuses!!! We used PURE (and belive me, those babies "looked" pure- a nice opaque color) umbilical cord stem cells. Also, the treatment done in the Dominican Republic is conducted by a man (William Rader) www.medra.com., who's medical degree is actually of a psyciatrist (that's the very FIRST place I checked into).  Dr. Ramirez is a spinal cord surgeon: www.ramirezdelrio.com, http://spinal.siteutopia.net. He also uses "shark embrios" to treat paralyisis.

Kristen,

Thanks for the info.  This is one of the problems we face every day.  There is so much misinformation out there.  People don't really know anything about stem cells.  If you say stem cell to someone, the first thing they think is "Oh no, you're killing babies."  We want to educate everyone.  The stem cell therapies I talk about in China are umbilical cord stem cells.  We want to give as much info as possible to the public about umbilical cord stem cell therapy.  Since we can't get this therapy in the U.S., we want to offer information about where you can get it.  It's hard to keep up with  companies, so I really appreciate all of the information I can get from everyone.  Thanks again.

Hi all,
I just wanted to report that Kaci just had her 2nd stem cell treatment in Mexico June 29th (almost exactly 1 year after the first one).  We went back to the same Dr. (Dr. Ramirez).  This time instead of an IV injection they did the proceedure by putting a catheter into the femoral arterey and ran it up to the carotid artrery.  So far all is going well- she's back to eating tons and sleeping 11-12 hours a night (like last time).

I was very please by the outcome from the first stem cell treatment.  Kaci's fine motor skills made some amazing gains.  Also her speech improved a lot.  Her gross motor didn't impove as much as I was hoping for... but hey, there's always this time!

Thrilled to hear that Kaci is doing so well.  I'm sending you "good" thoughts.  Please keep me posted.
